Define the Rate

Ask your state legislators to get "standard rate of fire" defined

One letter to your Colorado senator and representative, asking them to request an Attorney General opinion on SB25-003.

SB25-003 made possession of a "rapid-fire device" a class 5 felony. Whether a device qualifies depends on whether it increases a semiautomatic firearm's rate of fire "above the standard rate of fire" (C.R.S. 18-12-101(1)(g.7)). The statute does not define that term, and no agency is directed to define it.

Under C.R.S. 24-31-101(1)(d), the Attorney General must give a written opinion on questions submitted by the General Assembly. This page helps you email your own state senator and representative asking them to seek one. Enclosure: Proposed Questions for Attorney General Opinion (PDF).

Privacy

Your address lookup runs in your browser (Esri geocoder and U.S. Census map service). If you send through this site, your name, address, optional phone, email, and districts are used to send your letter and are not stored. The site keeps no copy of your letter. It keeps only anonymous counts (letters sent, by date and district). When you send through this site, the server re-checks your address with the same Esri and Census services, and your letter is delivered through Resend, our email provider. No analytics, cookies for tracking, or mailing lists. Using "send from your own email" sends nothing to this site.
